Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek has released new Wi-Fi 7 solutions called Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 for businesses and stores. The company announced that these solutions are now available for testing by customers, and they plan to start making them in large quantities by mid-2024.
The Filogic 860 is a Wi-Fi 7 access point that uses a new network processor from MediaTek. It is suitable for enterprise access points, service provider Ethernet gateways, mesh nodes, retail, and IoT router applications.
Filogic 360 is a single chip that combines Wi-Fi 7 2×2 and dual Bluetooth 5.4 radios. It is made to give Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to edge devices, streaming devices, and many other consumer electronics.
Alan Hsu, the business vice president and general manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business at MediaTek, explains that MediaTek is distinguished by its wide range of connectivity options. Hsu further states that MediaTek is upholding its reputation for excellence by introducing two innovative Wi-Fi 7 solutions tailored for mainstream applications. In situations where networks are congested, these solutions, known as Filogic 860 and Filogic 360, provide the same top-notch technology found in MediaTek’s premium offerings. Additionally, they offer exceptional dependability, lightning-fast speeds with minimized delay, and improved coverage range.
The Filogic 860 platform is equipped with advanced dual band Wi-Fi 7, offering lightning-fast internet speeds of up to 7.2Gbps. It has impressive dual dual concurrent capabilities with 4T4R for 2.4GHz up to BW40 and 5T5R 4SS for 5GHz over BFW160. Additionally, this platform allows for an extra receive antenna which enables zero-wait DFS for dynamic frequency selection. On the other hand, the Filogic 360 provides excellent support for entertainment and various applications with its two Bluetooth 5.4 cores. It also offers BLE audio with integrated DSP for LC3 codec support, ensuring high-quality audio. Additionally, it includes MediaTek’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth coexistence technology to provide seamless connectivity. Moreover, it supports 4096-QAM and MRU along with 160MHz channel bandwidth, guaranteeing optimal performance.
